Velaurine Journal – The End of an Era

After 40 Years, Eleanor Is Retiring. But She Wanted Her Jewelry to Live On.

Boston — For more than 40 years, Velaurine was much more than a jewelry store. It was a place families came back to year after year, to celebrate weddings, anniversaries and moments they never wanted to forget.

Eleanor and Richard Hale built the business together — first as a couple, then as partners. The store was their life’s work. Now they have decided to retire, closing the doors of a shop that has been part of the neighborhood for decades.

“This store was my whole life — my work and my customers. Closing the door was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but I’m happy I can keep sending jewelry to the women who supported me all these years,” Eleanor says.

Before leaving, Eleanor insisted on one thing: that the closing prices be real. “These pieces deserve to go to someone who will love them, not sit in a warehouse,” she said.

For four decades, Velaurine stood out for its attention to detail and the personal relationship it built with every customer. It wasn’t unusual for Eleanor to remember a client’s name, her wedding anniversary, or the very first piece she sold her years before.

Margaret Collins, a loyal customer for over ten years, puts it simply: “Here, they don’t sell you a piece of jewelry — they help you find it. You don’t get that just anywhere.”

Every piece was created with the philosophy that guided the house from day one: jewelry isn’t just an object, it’s a memory that travels through time.

That philosophy lives on in every design — pieces made to be worn every day, to age gracefully, and to be there for the moments that matter.

Velaurine display — any 4 pieces for $99

To mark this final chapter, Velaurine is holding a final clearance with 50% off its entire collection — or any 4 pieces for $99. From everyday essentials to its most refined designs, every piece reflects the style and quality that defined the house over the years.

Quantities are limited. Once a piece sells out, it will not be restocked.

The end of an era, the continuation of a legacy.

Boston says goodbye to a beloved jewelry store, but the Velaurine name lives on through its designs — in the hands of those who still believe the truest treasure is the one you keep close to your heart.
